How a school transfer works in Tamil Nadu
- Request the Transfer Certificate (TC) from the current school. Schools are required to issue it; carry the fee receipts to speed it up.
- Collect the latest report card or progress report and the student's EMIS number, which is printed on most TCs and ID cards.
- Visit Cambridge with the TC, report card, birth certificate, Aadhaar copies and photographs.
- EMIS transfer. Our office moves your child's record to Cambridge in the Tamil Nadu EMIS system. You do not need to visit any government office.
- Start date. Your child can begin the next working day, or on Vijayadashami, 20 October 2026, if you prefer an auspicious start.
For Pre-KG, LKG and UKG, a TC is normally not needed — the birth certificate and Aadhaar are enough.
Will my child fall behind after a mid-year move?
